Over the last 4 years working with the Vasculitis Foundation has given my life more purpose than I could've ever imagined. What began as a relationship for me to inspire other Vasculitis patients to continue to chase their dreams despite all the setbacks this rare disease can cause, has turned into the most meaningful part of my life. Listening and interacting with patients has given me more confidence and energy to continue to chase my own dreams through 2020. Having a rare disease can be very isolating, but meeting other patients, helping them on their journey, and spreading awareness is an important part of the VF. Just like our rare disease, the VF is a small foundation that stretches and utilizes every penny that comes in, whether it's through continuing education programs do educate doctors on the latest research, helping patients locate knowledgeable specialist, or providing important resources for hard to find information about the disease, the VF is dedicated to increasing the quality of life of Vasculitis patients around the world.

About Brandon Hudgins

Brandon Hudgins is an elite middle distance runner, specializing in 1500 meters and the mile. In 2007, while running for Appalachian State University, he was diagnosed with granulomatosis with polyangitiis (GPA), a rare autoimmune blood disease. Following chemo and drug therapies, Brandon renewed his running career, and in 2015, he became just the 448th American to run a sub-4 minute mile. In 2016, with a USA top-20 time in the 1500 meters, he qualified for the USA Track & Field Olympic Trials, finishing a semi-finalist.

Athletes For is an annual giving campaign hosted by top runners, jumpers, and throwers training in the USA.

Athletes select their favorite charity and host a two week fundraising campaign. All campaigns will run through Giving Tuesday.

Athletes For has a dual purpose of supporting favorite causes and favorite athletes. All funds raised will support a worthy cause (as per the athlete's selection) with a small portion going toward funding athlete grants supporting their Olympic journey.
