Becoming an Olympian
Let’s make a childhood dream a reality
Hi! Kortney Ross here. I am an Olympic level pole vaulter training at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Center in California.
I picked up pole vaulting because of an overly involved dad, who I am very thankful for! I was always a really good athlete who could pick a sport up and be good at it within a couple days. In elementary school we had a relay days and I was faster than all of the boys. I went home and told my dad, “I like being faster than the boys.” From there I became a distance runner, turned into a sprinter/long jumper then turned into a pole vaulter (Shorter distance to run!).
I was a top recruited high schooler jumping 13’6. Came out of college without getting any better so why would I continue jumping? I was going to scrap it and become a cop but then things came together and I got an opportunity to train at the Olympic Training Center. Turns out I wasn’t a fluke athlete. 2 years later I have jumped 15’1 with room to improve!
I need your support to help show the world I can be the best pole vaulter in the world! I will use the funds to support my training, therapy, nutrition, travel to meets and coaching.
