Hello everyone! My name is Colin Abert and I am 22 years old. I have been running for about 10 years now and have loved every second of it. I recently joined Team USA Minnesota to continue my athletic career in track and field. I will be focusing on the 1500 and mile, which happen to be my favorite events on the track to compete in, but also to watch. I moved to Minnesota from Pennsylvania, so it has been an adjustment so far, but I am really enjoying the change.
Running has been a big part of my life for awhile now, but I also enjoy doing lots of different activities. One of my friends recently introduced me to camping, which I enjoyed tremendously. I am also competitive and love to play almost any sport. Being active is something I believe makes life much more enjoyable, so I hope I can continue doing sports and other activities for a long time. One of my favorite outdoor games is something called Quoits, which is an outdoor party game, similar to horseshoes and cornhole. Spending time with friends and family is also important to me. Not being able to spend time with them will be the hardest thing for me in moving away from home, but they all are very supportive of my dream.
The main worry for me in pursuing my dream is making sure I have enough money to provide food for myself and also pay any bills that I have. With the time demands of training and the goals that I have moving forward, I decided I would like to work part time. This will provide me money for necessities, but I fear I might add stress to my life if I don't make enough to support myself. Any money that I receive would go towards meals, furniture, bills, and possibly a flight home to see friends and family around the holidays.
